Viktor Frankl identified three routes to meaning: creative values (what you give to the world through work or creation), experiential values (what you receive from beauty, love, or truth), and attitudinal values (the stance you take toward unavoidable suffering). The framework is theoretical and clinical; it is most useful as a diagnostic — identifying which source is most depleted in your current life.

Viktor Frankl did not argue that meaning could be found in only one place. His three-source framework is deliberately pluralistic: you can live a meaningful life primarily through creative work, through deep receptivity to what the world offers, or even — and this is Frankl’s most distinctive claim — through the quality of the stance you take toward suffering that cannot be avoided.
