Why it works

How to do it

  2. ほとんどの健康な成人にとっての一日の総カフェイン量——200〜400mg(おおよそエスプレッソ2〜4ショット)。

Caffeine pharmacokinetics — the absorption and clearance curve — are well characterized. The dose-splitting rationale is mechanistically sound; direct clinical comparison of dose schedules on crash severity has limited formal study. Blanchard and Sawers quantified that absorption-and-clearance curve directly, establishing the concentration peak-and-nadir the split-dose schedule is designed to flatten. Wyatt and colleagues went further and tested the split-dose principle in practice, showing that low-dose caffeine administered repeatedly across extended wakefulness sustained performance better than a single larger dose — direct evidence for the smaller-timed-doses approach. (mechanistic)

The optimal dose-split schedule is mechanistically derived rather than directly tested. Individual pharmacokinetics vary significantly.
