Why it works
How to do it
Research links distracted eating to higher intake at the meal and later, and attentive eating to reduced intake — a reasonably consistent observational and experimental finding. A systematic review and meta-analysis found that attending to food and remembering what was eaten lowers later intake, while distraction raises it, giving the "eat without screens" cue a quantified evidence base. (observational)
Effects are modest and measured short-term; attention supports moderation, it is not a weight-loss guarantee.
