The one-minute 3-2-1 at waking and before sleep
Run the three steps silently in your head twice a day: on a dream figure in the morning and on a person from the day at night.
Pourquoi ça marche
Integral Life Practice is built to scale down to one-minute modules so that practice survives busy days. The one-minute 3-2-1 keeps the full sequence but drops the writing: you face, talk to and become the figure in your mind. Doing it at the two edges of the day catches charge while it is fresh, from the night's dreams and from the day's encounters, before it settles into a fixed story about someone.
Comment faire
- In the morning, before getting out of bed, recall your dreams and pick a person or object that carried emotional charge, positive or negative.
- Face it in your mind for a few breaths, then talk to it or simply let yourself resonate with it, then take its perspective and be it.
- At night, before sleep, pick someone who disturbed or attracted you during the day.
- Face them, talk to them, and be them, silently. No writing is needed.
Données probantes
The one-minute version appears in Integral Life Practice as the 1-Minute Module for the Shadow module, done on waking and before bed; the book's sample practice plans show it used in mornings and evenings. Integral Life's module article describes a similar short form. No study of the short or long form was found. (anecdotal)
The short form trades depth for consistency. A charge that stays strong after a few days of the one-minute version usually needs the full written process, or a conversation with someone trained.

Using the minute to judge the figure or to replay the day. The point is to move through all three perspectives, ending in the first person, however briefly.

- Face it: describe the charge in the third person
Pick the person, image or sensation that charges you and describe it in vivid detail as "he", "she" or "it".
- Talk to it: open a dialogue in the second person
Address the person or image directly as "you", ask it questions, and let it answer.
- Be it: speak as it and re-own the quality
Take the figure's point of view, speak as "I", and finish with a statement that the quality is yours too.
- Use 3-2-1 on a dream figure or a body sensation
Take a charged image from a dream, or a sensation that keeps calling for attention, through the full written process.
- Use 3-2-1 on someone you idealize or are drawn to
Run the process on a positive charge, such as admiration, infatuation or fixation, to reclaim a quality you have placed in someone else.
- Translate a reaction back to its original form
Use the book's translation chart to turn a third-person reaction, like "nobody likes me", back into the first-person impulse it may hide.
- Let a re-owned emotion transmute into usable energy
Once an emotion is yours again, hold it in awareness without acting on it or identifying with it, so its energy can turn into a clearer form.
