Be it: speak as it and re-own the quality
Take the figure's point of view, speak as "I", and finish with a statement that the quality is yours too.
Por que funciona
The last step completes the reversal: the "it" that became a "you" is now spoken as "I". Taking on the figure's perspective, you notice where you share its quality, and close with a statement of identification such as "I am angry" or "I am the one who wants to be seen". Integral Life's module argues that only what has been owned can be let go of; the step is not about acting the quality out, but about recognising it as part of a larger you, so it no longer has to be met only in other people.
Como fazer
- Become the person or image. Speak or write as it, using "I", and look at the world, including yourself, from where it stands.
- Notice the ways you share the quality, even in a small or hidden form.
- Make a statement of identification out loud or on paper: "I am ___" or "___ is me too."
- Sit for a minute with how that feels, then name one way that quality, in a usable dose, could have a place in your life.
Evidência
Speaking as the figure and re-owning the quality is the final step of the 3-2-1 Process in Integral Life Practice and in Integral Life's module article. No outcome study was found. Speaking as a part from its own seat is the shared mechanism studied in chair-work research, which is evidence by analogy only. A practitioner critic, Joseph Dillard, argues that calling a figure "shadow" assumes it is a disowned part of you without first asking it. (anecdotal)
Re-owning a charged quality can stir up strong feeling. If you feel flooded, lose track of where you are, or images keep coming that will not settle, stop and do this work with a trained therapist; Integral Life Practice itself lists psychotherapy as a Shadow-module practice.

Erro comum
Stopping at "I see that I am a bit like them" from the outside. The step asks you to speak from inside the quality and say "I am" before stepping back; an intellectual nod skips the part that does the re-owning.

- Face it: describe the charge in the third person
Pick the person, image or sensation that charges you and describe it in vivid detail as "he", "she" or "it".
- Talk to it: open a dialogue in the second person
Address the person or image directly as "you", ask it questions, and let it answer.
- The one-minute 3-2-1 at waking and before sleep
Run the three steps silently in your head twice a day: on a dream figure in the morning and on a person from the day at night.
- Use 3-2-1 on a dream figure or a body sensation
Take a charged image from a dream, or a sensation that keeps calling for attention, through the full written process.
- Use 3-2-1 on someone you idealize or are drawn to
Run the process on a positive charge, such as admiration, infatuation or fixation, to reclaim a quality you have placed in someone else.
- Translate a reaction back to its original form
Use the book's translation chart to turn a third-person reaction, like "nobody likes me", back into the first-person impulse it may hide.
- Let a re-owned emotion transmute into usable energy
Once an emotion is yours again, hold it in awareness without acting on it or identifying with it, so its energy can turn into a clearer form.
